Rabies – Vaccination

Rabies is a deadly virus spread through animal bites or scratches. Vaccination is recommended for travellers visiting remote areas or working with animals. Three doses are needed for full protection.

Side effects: The vaccine may cause mild side effects such as redness or soreness at the injection site, headache, tiredness, or mild fever.

Additional precautions: Avoid contact with animals while abroad, especially stray dogs, bats, and monkeys. If bitten or scratched, wash the wound immediately with soap and seek urgent medical attention, even if vaccinated.

Risks caused by rabies: Rabies is a viral infection transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal. It affects the nervous system and is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.
